Liga MB Round 10 (Regular Season): Metapan is upset by Brujos

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Metapan between third ranked Metapan (5-4) and fifth ranked Brujos (5-3) on Tuesday night. Metapan was defeated by Brujos in a tough game at home 81-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Metapan. Brujos forced 22 Metapan turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Dominican forward Alejandro De Los Santos (193-2002) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Dominican forward Adonis Lopez (-1997) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Brujos' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Puerto Rican Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Brujos moved-up to third place, which they share with Fantasmas. Metapan at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost.
Undefeated leader Cojute delivered the ninth consecutive victory. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-8) 126-86. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Nick Moore contributed with 18 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Cojute's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Puerto Rican swingman Miguel Velez (185-1997, college: Hartnell JC) replied with 44 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for Chalchuapa. Undefeated Cojute (9-0) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost.

In the last game of round 10 Santiagueno was defeated by Fantasmas in San Vicente 71-63.




Metapan - Brujos 81-85

Fantasmas - Santiagueno 71-63

There was no surprise in San Vicente where 7th ranked Santiagueno (2-6) was defeated by fifth ranked Fantasmas (5-3) 71-63. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import Aaren Smith (198-1997, college: UDC) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican guard Victor Carattini (185-1992, college: PR-Bayamon) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Puerto Rican center Giovanny Martinez (206-1998, college: Jarvis Christian) added 14 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Santiagueno. Fantasmas moved-up to third place, which they share with Brujos. Santiagueno at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost.

They outrebounded Chalchuapa 58-42 including a 41-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cojute players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists.
